What is Title I?
What is Title 1: Title 1 is a federal grant designed to provide supplemental reading and math instruction in eligible elementary schools. schools may receive funds for this instruction if 60% or more of the attending students qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Once funds are distributed to a school, any student with an academic need my participate in the Title 1 program.
Title I Parent Information
Because research tells us how important it is for parents to be involved in the education of their children, districts and schools that utilize Title 1 funds are required to develop specific, strategic plans to build parent capacity to improve student achievement. Title 1 schools include parents in decision making and provide multiple opportunities to participate in school activities.
